#23 - Last thing!

Favorite discoveries: web 2.0 tools, especially the award winners (i.e. photo sharing). This program assisted with learning goals in terms of an awareness of, and experience using, these latest technology tools. I can't think of any unexpected outcomes from this program that suprised me. In terms of improving Learning 2.0 format or concept, based on my work flow and the academic calendar, the best opportunity to utilizing a training program such as this, is during the summer. Otherwise, no time!

#22 - social networking

I took the facebook tour, and listened to the Newsweek audio broadcast and read the Newsweek article about social networking. I explored Myspace and the categories... looked at a few and really fooled around with the classified section. I also searched both Facebook and MySpace for a former student. (She spends lots of time in these spaces.... her last post was yesterday). In general, the concept of a social network on line is somewhat appealing to me, but I can see how it can be very appealing to High School and College students. Features I like are all the options (categories)like shopping, and films, etc. Applications for libraries could be another access point for researchers, students and faculty to reach librarians.

#21 Podcasts

I looked at Podcast net and tried to find pod casts about rare books. Using the keyword search had hits on "books" (lots of comic books!) Going to the "tag" search, there was one from Swann Auction Catalogs for rare books.

I also looked at Yahoo podcasts. Nothing came up for rare books, but 67 library podcasts were listed, when searching libraries.

#20 - YouTube

What I like about YouTube is that you can watch videos. Also the fact that the site has "categories" so one can somewhat narrow the search. Features or components that could be applied to library websites, of YouTube videos also include the search button, rating the videos as well as documenting how long they are. I chose "interval library" video. I chose that video because its a great piece of art utilizing compact shelving, (such as we have in special collections), or "moving stacks" as it is referred to in the video.

#19 web 2.0 tools

I selected "visual arts" - colorblender site. I liked the fact it is free. I didn't find anything I didn't like. The site's useful features are that it's like being in the paint store and accessing all those color choices. Applications in library setting include web pages, background colors for anything published on line, or painting the walls!

HI this is a new word processing document for the Antiquarian print culture blog.

#18 web based apps

The google docs program indicated my piece was published to my blog. It worked! I did a spread sheet, with forumlas and everything! When trying to publish it, the only option was to a google site for everyone to see. Perhaps the doc will show up later.
